FAQs

How can I purchase a package?

Via our easy-to-use online form to purchase your essential package. If you have any queries, you can contact us at telcare@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

Can a family member or friend purchase a package on my behalf?

Yes, anybody can purchase a package on your behalf, but we do ask that you give them permission to do so.

How long will it take to get installed?

After purchasing your Telecare package, we will contact you to arrange installation dates and times. We aim to install your equipment within five working days, and installation of your equipment usually takes approximately 20-30 minutes. All you need is a electrical socket, no need for internet connection or a phone line.

How much does it cost?

Our Essential package costs only £5.93 per week, or £308.36 annually. You can explore other packages here.

What will happen if I fall?

Simply press the button on your pendant, and this will send an immediate signal to our 24hr a day monitoring centre. One of our friendly and professional call operators will check to see if you are ok and arrange assistance if required.

Do I need to pay extra if I press my pendant to contact you?

There is no additional cost– the cost of all callouts is included in your Telecare package as standard.

What is a Key Safe?

A key safe is a strong steel box that is attached to the outside of your property. It stores a spare key securely inside. The keys will only be accessible when using the correct combination code that you or a key contact creates.

Those living alone may find it difficult to answer the door, especially after a fall. A Key Safe allows key contacts or St John Ambulance a safe and secure way to access the property if needed.

What happens if I lose or break my pendant?

Replacement pendants are available at an additional cost. If you have a Telecare package and would like to arrange a replacement, please contact telecare@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

Can I order an extra alarm button or fall sensor?

You can add a second button or falls sensor at a small additional cost.
